Oregon Map Starting Point: Lakeview

Drive 6 miles north of Lakeview on US 395/OR 140. Continue east on OR 140 approximately 13 miles to Lake County 3-13. Drive northerly toward Plush approximately 11 miles (about 4.5 miles past a high-tension powerline). Turn southeasterly onto an okay road and drive approximately 7.6 miles to the Cleland Spring turnoff. Park.

Hike (Priday Reservoir quad) southerly on an old way 1.5 miles to a four-way intersection. Continue southwesterly 1.6 miles to a way that heads east. Nice camp here (Adel quad) with a 5-foot diameter white fir and a similarly sized ponderosa pine. These specimens are easy to find as they are noticeably taller than surrounding western juniper.

Follow this way 0.4 mile east to a southerly heading jeep trail. Follow the jeep trail southeasterly 1 mile beyond end to rim. Hike the rim north 0.6 mile to highest point (elevation 6,932 feet). Watch carefully for bighorn sheep both on the flat and below the rim. Continue hiking the rim 3.2 miles back your vehicle.
