At the Pacific Crest Trail trailhead (above), map your own route to Boccard Point and back (the newly official name isn't on the USGS 7.5' quad map and honors the late great conservationist Bruce Boccard). Boccard Point is the prominent ridge straddling the boundary line between sections 32 and 33 on the northwest-southeast divide between Camp and Dutch Oven Creeks. Use the Pacific Crest Trail, the ex-unimproved roads, and ex-four-wheel-drive trails. Go cross-country, as the forest is often open. Views from the Soda Mountain summit are nice if you ignore the abominably growing antenna farm.
